Gentle Precision: Eyelid Angioma Removal Using YAG Laser in Fayetteville, AR
Cherry angiomas can be frustrating—especially when they appear in highly visible areas like the face or eyelids. This case features a 50-year-old female patient from Harrison, Arkansas, who came to Ryan Crowder, PA-C, at Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center in Fayetteville to discuss treatment for two small cherry angiomas on her upper eyelid.
While one angioma was located closer to the eyelashes, the patient opted to only treat the more visible spot. Her primary concern was cosmetic—she felt the larger angioma was noticeable and distracting, especially in photos and conversation. After a detailed consultation, Ryan recommended the Cutera ND YAG laser for targeted, non-invasive removal.

What Is a Cherry Angioma?
Cherry angiomas are benign, red vascular growths that often appear with age—especially after 30. They’re made up of clusters of small blood vessels near the surface of the skin and are completely non-cancerous. Though harmless, many patients seek removal when these spots appear on highly visible areas like the face, neck, or chest.
Why ND YAG Laser?
The Cutera ND YAG laser is ideal for safely treating vascular lesions such as cherry angiomas—especially in delicate facial areas. Using a 1064nm wavelength, the laser delivers rapid pulses of energy into the blood vessels of the angioma without harming surrounding tissue. The treatment is highly precise, comfortable, and minimizes downtime.

Laser Science: How It Works
Lasers work by targeting a specific chromophore—a color-absorbing target in the skin. For cherry angiomas, that chromophore is hemoglobin, found in red blood cells. The ND YAG laser delivers energy directly into the angioma, coagulating the blood vessels and causing the lesion to collapse and fade over time.
The treated area may look slightly darker or red for a few days, but within a few weeks, the angioma typically shrinks, flakes, or disappears completely.
Follow-Up and Results:
Six weeks after treatment, the patient returned for a follow-up exam. The angioma was no longer visible, the surrounding skin was smooth and even, and there was no sign of irritation or discoloration.
“It’s like it was never there,” she said. “I was nervous to treat something so close to my eye, but Ryan explained everything so well and made me feel completely at ease. The laser was fast and surprisingly comfortable.”
Expert Commentary – Ryan Crowder, PA-C:
“Even small angiomas can have a big impact on how someone feels about their appearance. With today’s precision laser technology, we can treat even delicate areas like the eyelids quickly, safely, and with minimal risk. This patient’s results are exactly what we aim for—subtle, effective, and confidence-boosting.”
