Patient Story: Basal Cell Carcinoma on the Nose Treated with Mohs Surgery
A 67-year-old female patient was diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma (BCC) on her nose—an area where both cosmetic detail and structural preservation are critical. Because of the nose’s complex anatomy and visibility, Dr. Lance Henry, double board-certified dermatologist and micrographic surgeon, and the most experienced Fellowship-trained Mohs Surgeon in the region, recommended Mohs micrographic surgery for its accuracy and tissue-sparing benefits.
Mohs surgery is the gold standard for treating facial BCCs. By removing thin layers of cancerous tissue and examining each one under a microscope, Dr. Henry was able to ensure complete tumor removal while conserving as much healthy skin as possible—vital for preserving the shape and function of the nose.
After the cancer was cleared, Dr. Henry reconstructed the area with careful attention to skin texture, nasal contour, and natural symmetry. At six weeks post-surgery, the “after” photo reveals outstanding healing. The skin has regenerated smoothly, with minimal visible scarring and preserved structure, allowing the patient to return to daily life confidently and comfortably.
