This Client had concerns with age spots and skin tone not being uniform and even. At her consultation, Morgan recommended a series of Mini Melanage treatments, which is a type of chemical peel.

WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?

A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck, or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is generally smoother, less lined, and brighter.

The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun, which means after a peel is a great time to start a consistent regimen of wearing sunscreen every day. Your aesthetician will have some great recommendations for you. Our skin cancer experts recommend a broad-spectrum UVA / UVB medical-grade sunscreen SPF 30+.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

During a chemical peel, people feel a sensation similar to a sunburn. Washing with cool water, using cool compresses, staying hydrated and using moisturizer can help. Most treatments come with post-care products.

There are a few different types of chemical peels and even a facial that includes a peel, our Illuminize Facial. Your expert aesthetician will be able to recommend which peel is right for you to achieve your skin goals. We recommend:

Great for skin that is prone to breakouts or has pigmentation issues, the Mini Melanage Peel is a chemical peel that is gentler than the Melanage above, and there is less downtime. (Peeling is typically done after a week.). Because it is gentler, a series of 3-4 treatments is generally recommended to achieve optimal results. The Mini is designed to improve:

  • Texture of skin
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

WHAT IS THE MINI MELANAGE PEEL?

The Mini Melanage Peel represents a new generation of chemical peels. This peel uses weaker acids, combined with potent non-acidic ingredients that do not burn, wound, or injure the skin. For this reason, the Melanage Mini Peel is wonderful for patients looking for a shorter recovery time or have more sensitive skin. A series of three is generally recommended. While some patients may feel a mild tingling sensation from the peeling solution, the treatment is virtually painless.

  • Age: Between 56 and 65 years old
  • Post-op Timeline: 6 weeks
  • Technique: Mini Melanage
