About Katerina

Katerina “Kat” Mekel is a Licensed Medical Aesthetician whose journey to the skincare industry began with a passion for medicine and a deep understanding of how skin health can influence self-confidence. Originally from Russia, Kat earned her Bachelor’s degree in Management in 2003 and spent years working in the hospitality industry. After relocating to Houston in 2006, her path shifted dramatically when she joined a dermatology clinic’s front desk in 2015—and instantly felt at home.

Her dedication led her to become a Licensed Medical Assistant in 2017 and a Certified Dermatology Technician in 2021. That same year, she joined Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center, PLLC, where many patients came to know her as a caring and knowledgeable member of Andrea Thompson PA-C’s clinical team.

Driven by her passion for the field, Kat expanded her scope and became a Licensed Aesthetician in 2023, graduating from the Academy of Professional Cosmetology. Today, she brings her broad clinical experience, compassion, and advanced technique to help clients feel confident in their skin.
