Laser Hair Removal Q & A
How does laser hair removal work?
The treatment for laser hair removal in Harrison works by the laser directing energy into your hair follicles, heating them up and destroying them. The laser delivers precise pulses only to the targeted area without harming surrounding tissue.
Our laser hair removal device in Harrison works by targeting the pigment within the follicles, which means the darker your hair, the easier it is to treat.
The tip of the laser is cooled to be applied to you skin immediately after the laser pass over your skin. This is for your comfort, cooling down the treated area.
Where can I have hair removed?
Target unwanted body hair in the following areas:
- Ears – a favorite for our male clients
- Bikini line
In fact, the laser technology is safe enough to use almost anywhere on your body, except around your eyes.
How do I need to prepare?
It’s important that your aesthetician is able to visualize your hair follicles, so refrain from waxing or plucking your hair for a few weeks before your first laser hair removal appointment. You can still shave, since that only cuts the shaft of your hair, leaving your follicles intact.
How many treatments do I need?
The answer to this depends on the size of the area where you’d like hair removed. During your initial consultation, your aesthetician reviews the areas you want to tackle and comes up with a timeline for hair removal. We typically recommend 6 treatments.
Keep in mind that your appointments are spaced six to eight weeks apart so your aesthetician can make sure to treat all of the hair follicles in your target area. Not all hair grows at the same time, with some follicles being dormant at any given time. By waiting six to eight weeks in between appointments, it allows time for all of your follicles to be active and treated with the laser.
How long do results last?
Results vary from one person to the next. Some people enjoy several years of hair-free skin, while others may minimally regrow hair. Whether it’s one year or five years down the road, all you will need is a touch-up.
