Springing into skincare

Spring is coming, and we’re all starting to get that spring cleaning bug. But while you’re purging your closet and deep cleaning your baseboards, don’t forget your skincare!

Clean your makeup brushes

Clean your makeup brushes. This should actually be done every 1-2 weeks. Dirty makeup brushes can cause much more damage than simple breakouts. Using the same tools everyday means that dead skin cells, dirt, pollution, and oil will accumulate. These can harbor harmful bacteria including staphylococcus, streptococcus, and E. Coli. (Not kidding). Good-quality makeup brushes can last for years, as long as you wash them like you’re supposed to. To do that: Rinse them in lukewarm water with a mild shampoo or brush cleaner, gently massage the bristles, and lay them flat on the edge of the counter to dry.

Check product expiration dates

Check for expiration dates on your skincare products. Products with more active ingredients like retinoids, growth factors, and antioxidants tend to expire more rapidly. Ingredients such as glycolic acid and retinol can also become more concentrated as they degrade and separate, increasing the likelihood of skin irritation. So, pay close attention to expiration dates on creams, serums, and gels. If there isn’t an expiration date, discard them after six months of opening them.

Discard old sunscreen

Screen through your old sunscreen!!! Your neon bottle of Walmart sunscreen that has been sitting at the bottom of the boat since last summer is NOT going to work. Sunscreen needs to be in a controlled environment in order to be effective. The worst sunburns are commonly formed due to using expired sunscreen by giving you a false sense of protection.

Our experts at Revive Medical Spa, LLC and Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center, PLLC recommend using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, which blocks 97 percent of the sun’s UVB rays as well as the UVA rays. Anything less is not giving you the protection that you need. One of my favorites is EltaMD Clear Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 46.

Spring clean your face

Time to deep clean your pores!!! Schedule one of our most popular facials that do just that, the HydraFacial or DiamondGlow.

Both facials do an astonishing job at giving you a customized facial by exfoliating, extracting, and infusing specialty serums. For a next level treatment, add a dermaplaning to your facial! This allows products to penetrate deeper by not having to fight through all of that dead skin and peach fuzz. It’s time to get rid of that winter coat. 😉

Great time to get a chemical peel

Early spring is a great time for a chemical peel. A chemical peel improves skin texture and tone and lessens the appearance of fine wrinkles. Double yay! The results increase with repeated treatments. Skin will be noticeably smoother and fresher. Read glowing… Important after a peel is to be extra careful with your skin in the sun. So, slather on that sunscreen!

Choose healthy tanning

Now we all know that tanning beds are taboo and so is laying out with that baby oil, but that healthy tan glow can still be achieved. Enter airbrushed tanning! Achieve that perfect sun-kissed glow without the harmful effects of the sun’s rays in about 15 minutes or add a body polish first for a little pampering for your dry Winter skin. Our spray tanning solutions are 100% natural and do not contain any chemicals or parabens. Spring is a great time to start scheduling airbrushed tans for that healthy, beautiful glow. Good-bye winter pale!

Have a shave free summer

Time to get ready to show those legs! What’s that? Hate to shave? Revive has the answer for you, and spring is the perfect time to start so you too can achieve a shave free summer with laser hair removal.

With our Excel HR laser hair removal system, your aesthetician directs energy into your hair follicles, heating them up and destroying them. The system delivers precise pulses only to the targeted area without harming surrounding tissue. This treatment is ideal for unwanted body hair on the underarms, face, back, arms, ears, legs, and bikini line. In fact, the laser technology is safe enough to use almost anywhere on your body, except around your eyes.

Schedule some “me time”

So, this past year has been tough. All new “normals”. Schooling from home, limited social interactions, take out and no restaurants, no meeting the girlfriends for a glass of wine, masks, no parties, no shopping, no vacations. Now is the time for you. Take a break; reward yourself.

Be a little selfish, book a daycation at Revive. Pick your favorite treatments and services and indulge yourself with a ME day at Revive. Bring your bestie and enjoy our all new daycation spa packages in our fresh, new space. During this past year, we have expanded our spa with all new, incredible spaces, that are all about pampering and relaxation.
