Patient Story: Basal Cell Carcinoma on the Nose Treated with Mohs Surgery
A 68-year-old male patient was diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma (BCC) on the nose—one of the most common and cosmetically delicate areas for skin cancer. To ensure full cancer clearance and the best possible aesthetic outcome, Dr. Lance Henry, double board-certified dermatologist and micrographic surgeon, and the most experienced Fellowship-trained Mohs Surgeon in the region, recommended Mohs micrographic surgery.
Mohs surgery is the gold standard for treating BCCs on the nose because it offers precise, layer-by-layer removal of cancer while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible. This method is especially important in central facial areas where natural contour and skin integrity must be maintained.
Following the procedure, Dr. Henry reconstructed the area with great care to support healing, restore the natural shape of the nose, and minimize scarring. At six weeks post-surgery, the “after” photo reveals excellent healing with smooth skin texture, preserved nasal symmetry, and no obvious signs of surgical intervention.
This case illustrates the strength of Mohs surgery in achieving both a medical cure and an exceptional cosmetic result. For patients with facial skin cancers, particularly on the nose, the combination of early detection and expert technique is critical.
The patient is now fully healed, cancer-free, and confident in his appearance—thanks to the precision of Mohs surgery and Dr. Henry’s unparalleled experience in complex facial reconstructions.
