Mohs Fellowship Difference at Advanced Dermatology

Welcome to Our Skin Cancer Center

Welcome to your source for expert diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. Being diagnosed with skin cancer can be scary. Knowing you are in the hands of an expert team, utilizing the best treatments available will add to your peace of mind. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States, affecting one in five people at some point in their lives. 9,500 people are diagnosed with skin cancer each day with over 5 million people undergoing skin cancer treatment each year.

What sets us apart is both our advanced facilities and expert staff. At Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center, PLLC, we strongly believe that when it comes to providing quality care to our patients, experience matters. Our practice offers two Fellowship-trained Mohs Surgeons, Dr. Henry and Dr. Martin. Mohs Surgery is the gold standard for skin cancer treatment. It involves both the removal of the cancer, taking the minimal amount of healthy tissue, and then the reconstructive surgery to repair the area.

Dr. Lance Henry is the leading expert in the treatment of skin cancer in Northwest Arkansas. He has treated over 18,000 skin cancers using the Mohs technique, making him the most experienced Mohs Surgeon (skin cancer surgeon) in the region. Joining our practice in Fall 2024, Dr. Martin offers dermatologic care and skin cancer surgery appointments primarily in Rogers. Dr. Martin studied under the well-known Dr. Christopher Harmon, author of “Mohs Micrographic Surgery: From Layers to Reconstruction”, one of the primary textbooks used by Mohs fellows during training. Further, Dr. Harmon is known for advancing novel techniques to reduce the appearance of scars from skin cancer removal. We are very fortunate to have two dermatologic oncologists of Dr. Henry and Dr. Martin’s caliber on our team.

Rogers Advanced DermatologyOur Fayetteville and Rogers clinics offer complete surgery centers for the removal of skin cancer. The only two of their kind in Arkansas each with comprehensive dermatology clinics, full-service medical spas, pathology laboratories, Mohs surgery laboratories, and full-accredited Ambulatory Surgery Centers, all under one roof. This unique setting allows patients to have Mohs surgery procedures (skin cancer surgery) and complex reconstructive surgery at the same facility, which is almost always accomplished during the same day. Under one roof is easier and less expensive for you!

A suspicion or diagnosis of skin cancer can be stressful and scary. Know that you have come to the right place and the right team for treatment. We welcome you and your family to our offices and are honored to be your resource for healthy skin. We serve patients in Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville, Siloam Springs, Harrison, Bella Vista, Fort Smith, and beyond as we have many patients that travel from outside of our region for the expert care we provide.

Mohs – The Gold Standard for Skin Cancer Treatment

Mohs surgery is considered the most effective technique for treating many skin cancers, including basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs), the two most common types of skin cancer. Sometimes called Mohs micrographic surgery, the procedure is done in stages, including lab work and reconstruction, while the patient waits, completed in the same day.

SKIN CANCER PREVENTION

BE SUN SMART!

Skin cancer prevention should be practiced every day! UV radiation from the sun isn’t just dangerous, it’s also sneaky. Not only can it cause premature aging and skin cancer, it also reaches you when you’re trying to avoid it – penetrating clouds and glass (like car windows and the windows in your home) and bouncing off of snow, water, and sand. What’s more, sun damage accumulates over the years from prolonged outdoor exposure to simple activities like walking the dog, going from your car to the store and bringing in the mail. Skin cancer prevention needs to be something you do daily and incorporated into your everyday routines.

WHAT IS “UV INDEX”?

We want to see all our patients with the healthiest skin. Knowing when the sun is really strong is super important to be able to protect yourself from sunburns. The UV Index provides a daily forecast of the expected intensity of ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun.

Did you know that as few as 5 sunburns in your life doubles your chances of getting Melanoma?

Did you know that the number of skin cancers diagnosed each year exceeds all other cancers COMBINED?!

Sunburns can even happen on cloudy and overcast days. Protect your skin every day with a Board-Spectrum (UVA and UVB) SPF 30 sunscreen every day, 365 days a year.
